How It Works

Users authenticate using one or more of the following methods:

  • Tap an NFC-enabled card or smartphone near a reader

  • Scan a QR code using a mobile device camera

  • Present a mobile phone within close proximity (approx. 1 foot / 30 cm) to a BLE-enabled reader

NFC Authentication

NFC enables very short-range wireless communication (typically a few centimeters) to transmit encrypted credential data from a smartphone or secure card to a reader.

Key advantages:

  • Fast, intuitive tap-and-go interaction

  • Encrypted communication with dynamic security features (e.g. rolling codes)

  • Highly resistant to interception, replay, or cloning

  • Ideal for high-throughput and high-security access points

QR Code Authentication

QR codes encode authentication data such as one-time passcodes or secure URLs, which are scanned using a mobile device.

  • No specialized hardware required for users

  • Suitable for visitors, temporary access, or remote verification

BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Authentication

BLE authentication enables intentional, proximity-based access using secure mobile credentials stored on a smartphone. Users must deliberately present their phone within approximately 1 foot (30 cm) of the reader to initiate authentication.

  • Controlled proximity reduces accidental or unintended access

  • Touchless interaction without requiring a physical tap

  • Adjustable proximity thresholds for precise security control
