Turnstiles are pedestrian access devices. They create a defined passage point and allow one authorized person through at a time, depending on the model and configuration. Common options include tripod turnstiles, waist-high swing gates, full-height turnstiles, and optical speed gates. Barrier gates, often called vehicle barriers or boom gates, are designed for cars, trucks, and other vehicles. An employee might use a mobile credential to enter the garage, pass through a lobby speed gate, access a restricted floor via elevator controls, and enter a secure room with a biometric check. Each event can be managed through one centralized policy rather than disconnected systems.
